Meet Ms. Yolantha.

She came to MEDIALEX with a problem to solve: Too many minority kids in Lexington were missing out on the magic of being read to. Too many of them never saw themselves in the stories being told.

So Ms. Yolantha decided to do something about it.  And she brought a friend. A puppet named Corrrrona. Four R’s. Corrrrona can’t read a word. But she loves every story.

MEDIALEX gave them a home. Reading Rock Star now airs on WLXU three mornings a week and streams online. Kids across Lexington tune in. Ms. Yolantha and MEDIALEX even received an early literacy grant to take their show on the road across five counties.

It all started with someone who had a story to tell and a platform that said: “come on in.”
