Not only was it meant to further tear our culture apart as slaves with the lighter skinned slaves doing domestic work, while the brown and darker were lent to manual labor; it has continued today. I sit down with Daikerra Sweat a discuss how her beautiful dark complexion wasn't always viewed as such by herself and others.
