African Americans and Swimming

Did you know that 64% of African American children CAN NOT swim and 3,500 people every year who die in water?! These are astonishing numbers. We recorded this last year and I thought it fitting to have you listen as Coach Andre’ Morton and his wife Kim Morton talk about African Americans and swimming. Coach Andre’ is one of very few African American swim Coaches. He and his wife are the owners of Rhythm& Stroke Swim in Cleveland, Ohio. We have a wonderful discussion on the history of African Americans and the water, 7 basic skills in swimming, what is a good age to start teaching your child(ren) how to swim, water safety, drowning and exercise.
