MEDIALEX is committed to the public health, safety, and well-being of our community.
MEDIALEX has a special designation from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which calls for our radio stations to designate a portion of our programming and air time to ‘public safety’.
When Emergencies occur in our community, we are licensed to provide up-to-date, relevant information specific to the community we serve.
MEDIALEX works closely with local public health officials and service organizations to help keep our community safe and healthy.
Throughout the COVID-19 crisis and during the vaccine rollout, MEDIALEX took a leadership role. Our radio stations and website provided critical safety and public health information in over 20 languages to non-English speakers in our community. There are more than 200 languages spoken in Lexington. MEDIALEX’s team of volunteer interpreters won recognition from the Governor’s office, the Kentucky Colonels, and the Kentucky World Language Association
