East Fourth Street will have one lane closed between Chestnut Street and Ohio Street from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Monday – Friday, until late January for sanitary sewer work. At that point, work will continue down East Fourth Street toward Race Street.
The Division of Water Quality is replacing the aging sanitary sewer that runs under East Fourth Street from Ohio Street to Race Street, and under Race Street from East Third Street to East Fifth Street. The work will be done in phases, starting at East Fourth Street and Ohio Street. One lane will remain closed during construction, which is expected to last until late summer this year.
No detour is necessary due to a single lane being closed. Drivers are reminded to proceed slowly through construction areas and watch for pedestrians and workers.
Access to homes will be maintained throughout construction. However, street parking will be unavailable in construction areas. For the most up-to-date information about Lextran bus stops located in construction areas, riders should visit lextran.com.
