Raised for the first half of her childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the second half in Cincinnati, Lauren had early exposure to culture shock. The lack of cultural diversity is something she’s been exposed to over and over again throughout her travels and experiences.
Her time as an undergrad at UK brought Lauren to Lexington and made her first forays into radio via WRFL, where she was a student reporter and eventually news director.
Lauren’s first, real broadcasting job was as a production assistant at WLWT-TV in Cincinnati. She stayed for a year and soaked up as much “big market” knowledge as she could before taking the leap and moving to Sioux City, Iowa for her first on-air gig as a reporter.
Lauren spent two and a half years there, working her way up to weekend anchor, before moving Fargo, North Dakota for an anchor and producer position. A family health emergency called Lauren back home to Cincinnati. It wasn’t long after moving back that she was hired as the morning/noon anchor at WTVQ in Lexington.
Lauren spent five years with WTVQ anchoring four hours of live TV a day while also producing, scheduling guests, and recording news updates for our radio partners.
After a decade in news, Lauren was ready for something new and found her way to Good Foods Co-op. Lauren wanted to use her skills to do something that truly felt meaningful and helped organizations fighting to make real, positive changes in Lexington, including RADIOLEX.
Lauren loves to be part of an organization that gives a platform, microphone, and airtime to those voices that rarely get heard.
